What communication tools does Kitospace have?
Kitospace has two separate messaging systems. Team Chat is for your own staff, and Guest Chat is for conversations with the people who stay with you. They never mix: a guest never sees Team Chat, and internal chatter never lands in a guest thread. What is Team Chat?
Team Chat is real-time internal messaging for your crew — share updates, coordinate tasks, and keep everyone on the same page without leaving Kitospace. It replaces the scattered messaging-app groups most teams end up with, and keeps operational chatter next to the work it is about. Open Team Chat in the sidebar to see your conversations. Click New conversation to start one and pick the colleagues who should be in it; a conversation can hold two people or the whole team. Messages appear instantly for everyone in the thread, and you can leave a conversation you no longer need to follow.Team Chat is core functionality. It works on every plan and needs no add-on — staff talk to each other regardless of what your organization sells. You do need permission to use messaging; if Team Chat is missing from your sidebar, ask an administrator to grant it.
What is Guest Chat?
Guest Chat holds your conversations with guests. Messages arrive from the guest’s booking portal, you reply in Kitospace, and the guest sees the response instantly — no email back-and-forth required. Every conversation is linked to a reservation, so the context travels with the message: you always know which stay, which unit, and which dates a question is about. You can open a guest’s thread directly from the reservation, or start one yourself with New conversation and pick the booking it belongs to. The search box takes a booking code or a guest name, which is usually the fastest way back to a thread you handled last week. How do I know I have new messages?
Both systems show an unread count in the sidebar navigation. Team Chat carries its own badge for unread team messages, and Guest Chat carries a badge for unread guest messages. When the Reservations & Guests group is collapsed, its header shows the combined total of the badges inside it, so an unread guest message is still visible without expanding the group. On smaller screens the menu button in the top bar shows one total; hovering it breaks the number down into unread messages, unread team messages, and reservations needing attention. Badges update live — you do not need to reload the page for a new message to appear.Common use cases
- Shift handover — a Team Chat thread for the housekeeping crew keeps the day’s changes in one readable place.
- Late arrival — a guest asks about checking in after midnight; the thread is already attached to their booking, so the dates and unit are right there.
- Pre-arrival questions — parking, pets, or bed setup, answered before the guest arrives instead of at the desk.
- Chasing a detail — search by booking code to reopen an older conversation and confirm what was promised.
