# What is Kitospace?

> Kitospace is the operational platform for physical spaces — units, reservations, guests, cleaning, and team communication in one place.

## What is Kitospace?

Kitospace is the operational system for physical spaces. Whatever you rent out or look after — hotel rooms, holiday apartments, desks, storage boxes, berths — Kitospace holds the whole operation in one place: who is staying, which space they are in, what needs cleaning, and who on your team is handling it.

The vocabulary is deliberately neutral so the same platform runs a hotel, a set of vacation rentals, or a co-working floor. A **room** or space is a **unit**. A **booking** is a **reservation**. A **property** is a **workspace**. **Housekeeping** work is **cleaning**, and a single cleaning or maintenance task is a **mission**. A **visitor** who stays with you is a **guest**.

## Key concepts

| Concept          | What it means                                                                                            |
| ---------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Organization** | Your company account — the top level that owns your billing, members, roles, and all of your workspaces. |
| **Workspace** | One property or operational site, with its own units, reservations, settings, and members. |
| **Unit** | An individual space you manage: a room, apartment, office, parking spot, or storage locker. |
| **Reservation** | A booking that connects one or more guests to one or more units for a date range. |
| **Guest** | A person staying with you, linked to the reservations they belong to. |
| **Mission** | A cleaning or maintenance task assigned to a unit and picked up by your staff. |
| **Contact** | A person who helps you run the operation — team members, co-hosts, and collaborators. |

<Note>
  An Organization can hold many workspaces, and a workspace can hold many units. Almost everything you do day to day happens inside one workspace at a time — see [Workspaces](/docs/getting-started/workspaces).
</Note>

## What are add-ons?

Kitospace is sold as a small core with capabilities layered on top. What you can see in the sidebar depends on which add-ons your Organization has.

| Add-on                | What it unlocks                                                                                  |
| --------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Core** | The base workspace: contacts, team chat, media library, timeline, and settings. Always included. |
| **Reservations** | Bookings, availability, the calendar, guests, guest chat, conflicts, rate plans, and analytics. |
| **Cleaning** | Missions — housekeeping and maintenance tasks, with assignment and completion tracking. |
| **Kito AI Assistant** | Ask about your properties by voice or chat and get answers grounded in your live data. |

Further add-ons cover more specialised work, including **Channel Manager** for distributing your inventory to online travel agents, payment processing, and tourist-tax and guest-registration handling.

<Tip>
  If a menu item you expected is missing, the add-on behind it probably isn't active. Check with the person who manages your Organization's plan in **Billing**.

## Where everything lives

* **[Units](/docs/units/overview)** — the spaces themselves, with their types, inventory pools, and rate plans.
* **[Reservations](/docs/reservations/overview)** — bookings, their statuses, and the [Calendar](/docs/reservations/calendar).
* **[Guests](/docs/guests/overview)** — guest profiles and stay history.
* **[Cleaning](/docs/cleaning/missions)** — missions for housekeeping and maintenance.
* **[Communication](/docs/communication/overview)** — Team Chat for staff and Guest Chat for guests.
* **[Booking Links](/docs/booking-links/overview)** — distributing your inventory and resolving conflicts.
* **[Analytics](/docs/analytics/overview)** — occupancy, revenue, and booking volume.
* **[Settings](/docs/settings/overview)** — Organization-level and workspace-level configuration.
* **[Kito AI Assistant](/docs/ai-assistant/overview)** — ask questions about your own data.

## Common use cases

* **Running one property** — a single workspace holds every unit, reservation, and cleaning task; the whole team works in the same place.
* **Running several properties** — one workspace per property keeps availability, settings, and members apart, while billing and roles stay shared at the Organization level.
* **Splitting the work by role** — front desk lives on the **Calendar** and **Reservations**, housekeeping lives in **Cleaning**, and managers watch **Analytics**.
